Yes, creating a profile and browsing is free. Any future paid features will always be clearly labelled before you pay for anything.

Any practising Muslim aged 18 or over who is genuinely seeking marriage. HalalZawaj was built especially for Ethiopian, Eritrean, Somali, Kenyan, and Ugandan Muslim communities, and welcomes members from anywhere.

At registration, every member takes an oath — “Wallahi Wabillahi, I swear in the name of Allah, I am here with genuine intentions of marriage.” It's our way of keeping the community sincere from the very first step.

Nobody, by default — your photo stays private until you turn on “show my photo to everyone” in your profile settings, whenever you're ready. It is entirely your choice, and is not tied to matches or interests.

Your email is never shown publicly. It's revealed only to a member you've matched with.

Wali (guardian) involvement is central to how HalalZawaj works. A sister's Wali name and phone number are required at registration, kept private, and shared only with an accepted match — so her family is part of the conversation from day one.

Browse profiles and express interest in someone. If they accept, you become a match — contact details (and the Wali's details, for sisters) unlock for both sides. Photo visibility is separate and always up to each member.

Yes, at any time, without needing to give a reason.

Try widening your search filters, especially country and age range. New members join regularly, and many are open to relocating.

Involve your family and Wali early, meet only in safe and appropriately chaperoned settings, and never send money to anyone you meet on the platform. See our Terms of Service for full safety guidance.

Open their profile and tap Block. You'll be asked to choose Just block, or Block and report — reporting also blocks them and sends your reason to our team for review. You can also always email hello@halalzawaj.org.
